james y. lee / 이유진 is a Korean-American screenwriter, playwright, critic, and dramaturg.

they are a senior in Radio/Television/Film with a playwriting concentration from Northwestern University. their work portray artists’ creative processes amid pivotal historical moments — and themes of authenticity and survival in the face of exploitation. their plays have been developed and performed at Northwestern University and the Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts, with mentorship from various professional screenwriters and playwrights.

james is also a freelance film critic with credentials in GALECA and the Chicago Indie Critics, as well as experience in festival press coverage and programming. they are also an Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition reader, and has supported undergraduate playwrights and screenwriters in student production environments at Northwestern. when not writing or watching movies and theatre, James dabbles in card games of all kinds.
